What modern history does not teach is the conditions of the Confedereate prisoners in the so called Civil War. For a true account of what our dedicated Brethern went through when they were captured - primarily at Gettysburg and in Northern Virginia get the book POINT LOOKOUT PRISON CAMP FOR CONFEDERATES by Edwin W Beitzell of St. Mary's County, Maryland. While I was a resident of St. Mary's county for two years I had the opportunity to visit this historical site many times. I was astonished that I was never taught about the hardships of our Confederate Heroes that were in prison during and after the Civil War. There was no movie made about our Heroes as was the North in ANDERSONVILLE. This book contains letters from the prisoners themselves. No Hollywood influence or liberial insertions in this book. Remember the the way we can get an accurate grasp on History is to read the letters and documents of the time we are studying, any other method is marred with popular opinion. Great post brother Bo. Another great book is the Reconstruction Trilogy by Thomas Dixon Jr. It contains three books that describe conditions leading to the formation of the Klan. Sadly, people have written their own his-story about the Civil "War". There have been movies, such as "Gods and Generals" that portray an accurate account, but we see how well that did at the Box office. Most people don't want to see the trust. Again, great post brother.
